Just a note..... This was one of the best cars I have ever had.... Period..... It did everything right.   It was an incredible machine so good I doubt I will ever own a car so perfect ever again.  Now I sold the car due to the HORRIFIC RESALE Mercedes has.  Makes no since does it?  I had to sell it while it was still worth something actually as the writing is on the wall.  I had other Mercedes before, but nothing has taken such a bloodbath as these generation SLs.  They deserve so much better.  I am primarily an American car guy but I am here to testify that Mercedes is a heck of a car.   Problem with Mercedes is the people that the car attracts.... Absolute automotive morons... They bought the car for how it makes them look, not what the car is.  When in possession, these people whine, they complain, they expect the world to turn when they say turn where the car is concerned.... They take the car to the dealer at the drop of a hat due to the smallest inconsistency.  I guess after years of listening to this crowd, the Mercedes dealers just said screw it.... They now will give you your mocca-crappa-latte when you go take your car to them for reasons like the nav voice is not in the woman's voice like you wanted. BUT they will rip your lips out to help you.  I don't blame them.. You are an intolerable group when it comes to cars.    Then after you whining people get fed up and want to get rid of the car, its really because you owned a car that you were not capable of understanding.    You end up selling it because you think the car was at fault when all the time it was just YOU!!!!   Because so many of you did this, the car gets a bad rap in the "all knowing" consumer reports.  Pretty ignorant actually, but you would have to understand cars first before any of this makes since to you.

Sorry if I may have offended some people here, but if this offends you, you are not a car person.   Next time try an Avalon.... Nothing wrong with those cars and nothing wrong with you if you own one.  I would buy and Avalon before I bought a mercedes and its not because its a better car.... Its a better crowd.....   Just stay away from nice cars like this SL55 because all you do is drive the resale down for those that really are car people.
