1985 Eldorado Biarritz

1985 Eldorado Biarritz - 28000 Miles, mint collector.   One of 2300 factory convertibles, but even harder to find Firethorn/White car for final year.  Appliance wires, 225/70 1.4" white walls.  The car is not for sale.  I am reconfiguring the engine to be the way these should have been built in first place, and that is without the HT4100!!!!   Owning dozens of the best of these, I have never enjoyed being behind the wheel of a single one of them....  Totally dismal drive.   But this is arguably the best body design of the 80s, if not the top 2.  Am using Olds based power using 403 alloy head/intake engine.  Under hood config will be based on the one year only 79 only Riv/Toro 4BBL 350 Olds platform from a donar car, of which is the best these were in terms of power, reliably and driving experience in factory form.   The 6.0 cadillac 80/81 was good, but its too heavy of motor for these cars really and the hood height is limiting due to the transaxle.  The 403 engine is the same family as the olds 350, so its size/weight, etc is same... So might as well use it vs 350.  79 toro/riv 350 4BBL cars were a blast if you have ever owed or driven a nice one... that is an enjoyable car to drive if you find a nice one, but a 4100 is only enjoyable with the engine off and looking at it in the garage.   Of course when the rare and desirable 84-85 convertibles came out, the olds 350 was no longer available due to cafe regulations and it ended up as a 1 year car in 79.   The 79 eldo had the 350 also, but had the underperforming and temperamental EFI on it, and even though they threw out comparable ratings, it was no comparison to the 4BBL riv/toro and many now know them as a fire hazard system if not kept up like clockwork.   Just not worth messing with for its lack of performance and downsides.   So the toro/riv 4BBL 350 was really the right setup for the platform.   My goal is to make this the standard of these cars, no expense spared, no corner cut.   Condition wise it is right now.   But love wise, I hate these cars with the 4100.  When done it will look and act original under hood, but when you hit the gas, 400HP will be conservatively available.  I have done reconfigs of cars like this due to necessity ove the years, but this car is perfect as it sits and the engine is fine for a 4100 runs like it was day 1... but that's nothing to write home about.  This is all being done to make it the way it should have been in the first place.   Look for more photos and vids as work progresses.
