1987 Toyota MR2 5 Speed. VIN JT2AW15CXH0098468. 4AGE-16V Engine. 125K miles. Texas owned car that is an original condition car as you see it. The wheels, exhaust and radio are the only modifications, all a plus to the car. Original radio is included with car. The car has all options available, removable top, AC, cruise, rear def, but has no power windows.
The good point is the car is a very nice turn key car running, driving and very good looking original car as you see it. Probably one of the better older MR2s as it sits. The original paint is way above a car of this age and use. Photos should tell you. The bad points are two. Its old and it has 125K miles. Although the car is way above the typical used up car, it does show some normal wear around the edges. On close inspection there are several dings in the hood that are light hail damage. This is really only noticeable as the paint is shiny and nice. If it were they typical faded used up pile of junk, you would never notice. These are not bad at all but they are there on close inspection to those that are expecting near new car quality purchase on a 125K mile 20 year old car. All could be PDR'd and they are very light. There are a couple of typical small door dings, not bad but a few. Other than that, this paint and body show a far nicer car than most skeptics will expect and even has more potential than you see now with a little love. This is a well preserved car. The window tint needs to be removed/replaced and the car will show so 100 times better. The old tint is really killing its great looks and condition. The tires are about 30% on the back 70 on front. Tires and very nice wheels that will go a good while but you will have to address the rear tires in the near future. Interior is very nice as you see it, no rips tears or cracks but shows some wear as expected. Really much less than 125K though.
Now the engine has had many things done to it in the name of maintenance and making the car go for a long time. The entire top end was done. Valve job and mild head porting was done while the head was off too! New timing belt, water pump and all of the things that tend to go out on these cars. That very hard part is done for you and this car is a bit stronger than a stock example due to the mild work! This was done about 1500 miles ago to finish out this car as a turn key machine. With a loving and caring new owner that likes to take a little pride with cars, this car has all the easy potential of being one of the nicest MR2s around without having to re invent a pile of junk. Of course you can throw some gas in it and drive the wheels off it too if that is your plan.
To answer the typical questions... The car does get 30MPG and 25 round town. Can be driven from Miami to Anchorage tomorrow, then back. As stated, this is a Texas car, the bottom is as nice as the top. You northern people know this better than anyone. AC works, blows cold and is still the good freon - R12. Not poor boy'd. I cannot foresee anything this car really needs other than the mentioned. This is a very nice car as a whole package but not perfect.
